JUNIOR BOYS SOCIAL CLUB #1
For boys 6 - 11 years of age
#1 Jan 21 - June 10, 2010 (Thursdays) (30 hours )
This program is aimed at boys who need a little help developing good social skills. Through creative drama, art exploration, and role playing, children will gain new social skills that will help in their daily lives. Activities include storytelling, role playing, fun art projects, and physical activities. Boys will gain life skills such as listening to instruction, taking turns, working independently, working with a team, reading body language, and being supportive and respectful.
This program is suitable for all boys that are finding it hard to be comfortable in a social environment. It will help those that are shy, lonely, or those needing to learn how to form healthy relationships.

SENIOR BOYS SOCIAL RECREATION CLUB
For youth 11 – 15 years of age
Jan 21 - June 10, 2010 Thursdays 6:00 P.M. – 7:30 P.M.
This program is aimed at youth who need a little assistance with their
social skills and who would be like to be part of a social club. The program focuses on developing healthy friendships in a fun, safe and supportive
environment. Activities such as drama exercises enable participants
to learn more effective ways to resolve conflicts and engage in positive communication with their peers. Also featured are leadership, cooperation, and team-building skills.

Literacy Tutoring
Program #1
For children 6 – 14 years of age
Monday, April 12 - June 16 (1 hour lessons)
Mondays & Wednesdays 4:00 P.M., 5:15 P.M., or 6:30 P.M.
Our Instructor: Alida Noort is a Certified Orton Gillingham Therapeutic Tutor and also a Special Education Assistant in District #40.
Effective listening and learning is the foundation for successful communication in school, at home, and in everyday life. Children with underdeveloped literacy skills need training and strategies to meet their educational needs.
With our new multisensory approach to literacy training, your child will become a more responsible listener and pay active attention to what they hear in the classroom and at home. This program will benefit children that may have trouble understanding, appear distracted, inattentive or forgetful, or may be easily overwhelmed by spoken/written language. This program uses a Multisensory approach to literacy tutoring that includes the Orton Gillingham and the Slingerland methods.
This is a 19 lesson program for children 6 – 14 years of age, with training lessons held on Mondays and Wednesdays from 4:00 P.M. – 5:00 P.M. or 5:15 P.M. – 6:15 P.M. or 6:30 P.M. – 7:30 P.M. (6:30 P.M. for ages 11 and up only)

ARTS, CRAFTS AND GAMES FOR GIRLS
MARCH 8, 2010 – JUNE 14, 2010 12 WEEKS/18 HOURSFOR GIRLS IN GRADES 5 - 9 (limit of 10) Mondays 6:00 P.M. – 7:30 P.M.
A program for girls in or about to enter Middle School. This program is for girls that are shy, or a little apprehensive about making new friends, or have difficulties with social situations. The program will concentrate on friendship and fun by providing a safe place for girls to enjoy activities such as scrapbooking, expressive arts, games, role playing, and journal writing.
Topics such as bullying, peer pressure, trust, and self-esteem may also be covered, but this is mainly a forum for girls to come together and have fun while making friends.
